Why Not Me?

I hesiate to write and publish this but I wanted to share a personal decision. I am not sure I need to share it, but I have been asked by many, so I’m sharing.

My decision: I am not going to get the COVID vaccine. I am not an anti-vaxxer, so what am I thinking?

- The current vaccines were approved for emergency use,. I tend to think they are safe for most people. That said, there is no long term, published animal studies, or any long-term human studies. It is an experiment, and I pass.

- I generally avoid prescription drugs. I have only had the flu shot once in my life. I only did that for someone else. I regret even that. Many feel differently, but this is how I view it.

- Over the years, I have developed a distrust in the medial community. Yes, my doctor likely saved my life by finding prostate cancer early. But throughout the process, I found other doctors that did not earn my trust. I could say a lot mroe, but I will leave it at that. For a great example of my concerns about science and our medial community, check out this podcast: (The Basement Tapes)

- Our medial community is for sale. Pharma and ‘big food’ has managed to buy them over and over. The health of our country has been destroyed by a compromised system. You cannot take most research at face value, and much of what we are told is full of holes. You have to be responsible for your own health. Talk with many doctors, read everything, and make informed decisons about your health. Even more, this is true about what you eat. I have done that with this vaccine and it comes up short at this time.

- I am a healthy 63 year old. I rarely get sick. By focusing on diet and exercise, I believe I am healthier than I was years ago. I was obese, had pre-diabetes, and high-blood pressure. I have reversed all of that. I did get food poising a while back, but I don’t get lasting colds or flu. I eat unprocessed foods that are nutritionally dense. I avoid sugar and processed seed oils. Bottom line, I could get the virus, but believe my immune system is capable of managing it. Bottom line, I am allowing my immune system to do what I does best .. and doing everything I can to build a robust immune system.

I believe there are people that are at high risk and they should be vaccinated. I think it is a risk evaluation that each person must make. I will never judge those that decide to take the vaccine or those that do not. I ask for the same respect for my decision. This is my decision, for me, at this time.

P.S. I have been asked about the age factor. Don’t older people die from this virus more frequeltly. The answer is more complicated. It is true, but could it be that as people age, they tend to have more health issues, and thus be more at risk? Here is a great article that really dives into this .. its worth reading: Why Does the Pandemic Seem to Be Hitting Some Countries Harder Than Others?
