iOS 11 and AirPods

I have been using iOS 11 since beta 2. I installed it on my iPads early, then a couple weeks later, I jumped all in, installing it on my iPhone. Yes, I am crazy.

Most tech sites are focusing on iPad features, such as drag and drop, multi-tasking and other really great features. I love these features, but I think one fo the coolest, yet small updates came to the AirPods.

AirPods get some love

Much has been written about the lack of controls on AirPods. With iOS 10, control was limited to either activating Siri, Play/Pause control of audio over the device, or turn the double-tap control off.  You selected with function occurred with a double-tap on the AirPods. It was the same for the right or left AirPod.

With iOS 11, you gain the albity to control two functions, one with a double-tap of the left AirPod, and one with a double-tap of the right AirPod. There is added functionality as well. Now you can select to either: Activate Siri, Play/Pause, Advance to the next track, go to the previous track or turn the feature off.

Give it a try .. and enjoy!  If you have not installed the beta for iOS 11, it’s only a couple of weeks before it will be out of beta. Bookmark this and try it after the iOS 11 is available.

And who knows ... maybe we will get new AirPods. 🤔

(And just to be clear, the information I’m sharing here is in the public beta, so I’m not breaking any NDA.)
