Legs 7/18/2025

Doing hard things… that was the theme of the workout today. Legs are hard. Many people, maybe most gym-goers, skip leg day because it is hard. A heavy leg day is mentally and physically tough. When I finish a hard set, I know I have done something that is hard, and very few things I have to do a day are as difficult. Go kill a leg day!

Today we did 6 sets of queads and 6 for hams. We finished with calves, abs and aductors but I am getting ahead of myself. The details follow:

  • Front squats: I am trying to push the weight back up a little but keeping the form solid and reps a little higher than my past efforts. I did 2 sets to failure, or at least 1 RIR.
  • Smith Machine back squats. 1 sets to failure. This is a high rep set and I felt like I was going to die.
  • Leg Press (feet high for hams): 3 sets to failure. Higher rep range and PR for me!
  • Leg extensions: 3 sets to failure with partials.
  • Seated leg curls: 3 sets to failure with partials.
  • Giant set: Abs, calves and heavy adductors: 3 sets.

This was intense but sure felt great.

My macros for yesterday:

  • Total calories: 3,961
  • Protein: 276g
  • Fat: 307g
  • Carbs: 58g

That is the highest I have been for a while and more protein than I really want in a day.

My weight this morning was 184.9 and total fat was 14.8 pounds.

Steps yesterday: 15,823.
